Vault connects to Monobank directly, through Monobank's own API. You approve access in the Monobank app on your phone, choose which cards and accounts to add, and Vault keeps them up to date. For how bank connections work in general, see Connecting a bank account.
What the connection does
You approve access in the Monobank app, never in Vault. Vault doesn't see or store your Monobank login or card details. In the account list Vault shows only the last four digits of each card.
Access is read-only. Vault can see your accounts, balances and transactions. It can't make payments or move money.
One Monobank client is one connection. All your Monobank cards and accounts sit under one approval, and together they use one bank-connection slot in your plan. Adding more Monobank cards later doesn't use another slot.
Before you start
Bank connections are available on paid plans. New workspaces get a 14-day Pro trial with no card required, so you can try them straight away.
Plan | Bank connections |
Free | Not included |
Basic | 2 |
Pro | 10 |
Enterprise | Agreed individually |
You'll also need:
permission to manage accounts in the workspace;
your phone with the Monobank app installed and signed in.
How to connect
On the dashboard, click Add account and open the Bank tab.
Under Data provider, choose Monobank.
Set the Start date: how far back Vault should import transactions. You can go up to 720 days back or use the 30, 90 and 180-day shortcuts. If you leave it empty, Vault imports the last 31 days. Then click Add account.
Vault shows a QR code and a link. On a computer, scan the QR code with your phone's camera. On your phone, copy the link and open it. Either way, the Monobank app opens.
In the Monobank app, confirm access for Vault.
Back in Vault, you'll see Approved — loading your accounts… and then the list of your Monobank cards and accounts, with currency, card type, last four digits and balance.
Tick the ones you want and click Add selected. You can add the rest later.
Keep the Vault window open while you approve. Vault checks for your approval automatically. If you take longer than about 10 minutes, it shows Still waiting for confirmation. The link is still valid, so approve in the app and click Check again.
What you may see in the account list:
Connected: this card is already in your workspace.
Unknown currency: Vault doesn't recognise this account's currency and can't import it. Write to us if you need it.
The first import
The new accounts appear on your dashboard straight away, and the card shows Importing transactions while history loads.
History loads in steps, so the first import takes a while. Monobank lets Vault read about one month of history per request, and only a limited number of requests per minute. A few months of history usually takes a few minutes; a year or two for several cards can take an hour or more. You can keep working in Vault in the meantime, and transactions appear as they arrive.
How often data updates
New transactions usually appear within minutes. Monobank notifies Vault when something changes on your account, and Vault then fetches the new transactions. In addition, Vault re-checks every account at least every 6 hours, in case a notification goes missing.
What each transaction contains
Date and time of the payment, shown in your workspace's time zone.
Amount in the account's currency, plus the converted amount in your workspace currency.
Description: the merchant name, your payment comment and the counterparty, where Monobank provides them.
Categories aren't imported from Monobank, so you set them yourself. Your categories, names and notes are never overwritten by later updates.
Pending transactions
Card payments that Monobank is still holding are imported as Pending. They're shown tinted and are counted in your totals. When the payment settles, the same transaction updates in place, with no duplicate; the final amount may differ slightly. If a hold is cancelled, it disappears. These changes can take up to 6 hours to show.
Balance
Vault shows the balance Monobank reports for each account and refreshes it with every update. If the card shows — instead of a balance, Vault doesn't have a current balance yet. Transactions are still imported.
When you need to reconnect
Monobank access doesn't expire on its own. It stops only if it's revoked: for example, if you remove Vault's access in Monobank, or approve Vault again from another workspace (see below).
When access stops, the card shows a red dot and Reconnect needed. Your history stays in Vault. To restore the connection:
Open the account menu and choose Reconnect.
Scan the QR code or open the link, and confirm access in the Monobank app. Use the same Monobank account you connected originally.
There's nothing to choose: your existing accounts come back with their history, categories and notes, and transactions you missed while access was down arrive shortly. You'll see Reconnected.
Reconnect appears only when it's needed. Each approval in Monobank replaces the previous one, so reconnecting a healthy connection and then abandoning the approval would break it.
Monobank in more than one workspace
Monobank allows only one active approval per client. If you connect the same Monobank in a second workspace, the connection in the first workspace stops receiving data and shows Reconnect needed. Vault warns you about this before you approve.
So keep each Monobank client connected in one workspace at a time. Reconnecting in the first workspace would, in turn, stop the second.
Pausing, disconnecting and removing
All of these are in the account card's menu.
Action | What happens | Plan slot |
Pause integration | Earlier transactions stay visible. New ones keep arriving but stay hidden until you resume. The balance freezes. | Still used, unless it's the last active Monobank account. Then the connection disconnects and the slot is freed. |
Resume integration | Transactions from the paused period appear in lists, reports and totals. | Used |
Disconnect connection | Sync stops for all your Monobank accounts in this workspace. History and annotations stay, and the last balance is shown. Reconnecting needs a new approval in the Monobank app. | Freed |
Reconnect | Brings back the same accounts with their history. See above. | Used again |
Convert to manual | The account becomes manual for good. Visible history stays; hidden transactions from a pause are deleted; pending amounts become final. Can't be undone. | Freed when no connected accounts remain |
Delete | The account and all its transactions are removed. Can't be undone. | Freed when no connected accounts remain |
Need a free slot without losing anything? Use Disconnect connection. It's fully reversible.
Removing Vault's access in Monobank
Disconnecting or deleting in Vault stops Vault's side only. Monobank gives services no way to withdraw access themselves, so Vault stays listed among the services with access to your Monobank until you remove it.
To remove it, sign in at api.monobank.ua and open the Agent access tokens page. It lists every service with access to your Monobank; delete the Vault entry. If you do this while your accounts are still connected, they'll show Reconnect needed.
Plan changes and payments
Downgrading in the app. If you have more bank connections than the new plan allows, Vault asks which ones to disconnect. History stays, and you can reconnect later.
Cancelling. Connections above the new plan's limit disconnect (all of them on Free). The card says Disconnected due to plan limits. Subscribing again doesn't reconnect them on its own: use Reconnect.
A payment fails. Data keeps syncing while the payment is retried. If all attempts fail, connections disconnect with Disconnected after payment attempts ended, and the workspace becomes read-only until the subscription is restored or you switch to Free.
The trial ends without a paid plan. Connections disconnect with The trial has ended, and the workspace becomes read-only until you choose a plan or switch to Free.
In every case your history stays in Vault.
